Preparation for Brotherhood
The Gamma Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi at North Dakota State University has developed a comprehensive Preparation for Brotherhood program centered around a five-week model calendar. This program is designed to provide pledges with structured activities and schedules that maximize their experience and ensure they emerge with the training necessary to become contributing brothers to Sigma Chi. It is the first program of its kind in the world of Greek letter societies.
During each week of the five-week program, brothers learn about one or two of Sigma Chi's core values. They participate in deeply introspective activities designed to help them better understand themselves and the type of individuals they wish to become. Pledges also learn the history of Sigma Chi, its designs, and its purposes in society, enabling them to make an educated decision about whether Sigma Chi is the right fit for them.
In addition to the in-person sessions hosted by the brothers, pledges are introduced to the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute, which houses the Fraternity’s online component of pledgeship. Potential new brothers hear directly from past Grand Consuls about what they value about the Fraternity and access online courses to ensure effective learning. The online portion is fast-paced, creating more time for pledges to connect with active brothers and build bonds with their pledge class
